Getting even never looked so good.

Your Lumecca IPL session will take approximately 30 minutes, but it does depend on the size of your treatment area. At the beginning of your session, your technician will provide protective goggles.

Once you are ready to begin, your technician will apply a cooling gel before moving the handpiece across the targeted area. 

As the calibrated light waves pulse and heat the surface of your skin, pigmented spots are pulled to the surface. The device’s heat also kills acne-causing bacteria and stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, making your pores look smaller and your skin look younger.

Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time with most visible results after one to two weeks. Having multiple sessions will improve the final result. For vascular treatments such as spider or leg veins, results can be seen in up to two weeks.

For 24 to 48 hours after your treatment, your skin may have a reddish or pink hue, much like a sunburn, and may feel sensitive. Any pigmentation you were targeting will continue to darken and will start to flake off, looking a lot like coffee grounds. To avoid scarring, do not rub or clean your skin vigorously—and avoid picking at the dark spots.

Do not use any topical retinoid or exfoliator (including a facial brush) for one week after your treatment. In addition, avoid removing facial hair with wax, depilatory or laser for two weeks.

You must wear a medical grade 30 SPF or higher sunblock daily (we recommend AlumierMD) for six weeks—long enough to get you in the habit of wearing it every day—to prevent future aging or sunspots. 

You will have no downtime after your Lumecca IPL session. Your pigmented spots will continue to darken for about seven days, and you will need to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen daily for a minimum of six weeks.
